Brooke Johnson

Brooke is the Director of Melbourne Music Tuition. She holds both a Bachelor's Degree in Music from the Elder Conservatorium in Adelaide and a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Brooke has spent her life in the performing arts and has performed in opera's, musicals, plays and eisteddfods. Following her Music Degree at the Adelaide Conservatorium Brooke began teaching in Adelaide before moving to Country Victoria where she wrote her first Musical. Brooke has taught Piano, Singing and directed Choirs for the past 15 years. She is Kodaly trained and has taught singing students from primary level up to V.C.E as well as students seeking entry into University Music Degrees. Brooke has completed both Level 1 and 2 of the 'Estill Voice Training Course' ran by Naomi Eyers. She is very familiar with the AMEB syllabus across all instruments and encourages students to sit these when ready.  Brooke was the conductor of the Kensington Primary Early Bird Singers for 7 years. The Early Birds performed at venues including the Melbourne Town Hall, Ballarat Art Gallery, Treasury House as well as opening the Spring Racing Carnival. She was also the organiser of the yearly choral event 'Warm Winter Voices'. Brooke is the Choral director of Ballarat Voices alongside Lyndell Allan.

Fionn is a professional guitarist who has been playing and performing music for over 16 years. He has been an active songwriter, producer, teacher and collaborator over the course of his musical career. Fionn completed his Bachelor of Music Performance at the University of Westminster (London) in 2016 and shortly after moved to Australia where he began establishing himself as a producer and performer in the Melbourne music scene.

Fionn has performed in cities including London, Sydney and Melbourne and has been involved in several different original projects and collaborations with a variety of artists. Fionn has diverse experience from which he draws upon when working in an educational environment. With a vast background in music tuition to people of all ages, Fionn loves to share his passion for music.

Flora Carbo is a Melbourne based saxophonist who has studied with musicians from Australia and around the world; notably Julien Wilson, Melissa Aldana and Jeff Clayton.

Flora has performed extensively at venues around Victoria including Bennetts Lane Jazz Club, Uptown Jazz Café, the Toff in Town and at festivals including Wangaratta Festival of Jazz, Melbourne International Women’s Jazz Festival and the Stonnington Jazz Festival.

Flora has a Bachelor of Music (Degree with Honours) from the University of Melbourne and has worked with world renowned artists including pianists Barney McAll and Andrea Keller, as well as co-leading Carbo Carter Gunnoo and leading the Flora Carbo Trio (who released their debut album ‘Erica’ in August 2018).

In May 2017 she won the prestigious James Morrison Scholarship at the Generations in Jazz Festival, in 2016 she was selected as one of the 10 finalists in the National Jazz Awards at the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and in 2018 was one of the 16 musicians nominated for the Freedman Jazz Fellowship. In 2019 Flora was nominated as a finalist for the Young Australian Jazz Artist of the Year at the Australian Jazz Bell Awards.

In 2018, Flora travelled to Colombia, Canada, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands with the ‘Company 2’ circus production ‘Scotch and Soda’ and participated in the 2019 Banff Workshop for Jazz and Creative Music in Banff, Canada.

Belinda Jenkin                

Piano and Singing

Belinda is an actor, singer, pianist and writer/composer. She is a 2015 graduate of NIDA (DMT). She is also a graduate of America’s Musical Theatre Conservatory CAP21, NYC where she completed their Professional Musical Theatre Program. Belinda has been teaching piano and voice for the last 7 years in Melbourne and Sydney helping students improve their skills, prepare for AMEB exams, assist them for concert performances and gain musical scholarships.

Belinda’s composition and writing credits include several cabarets Practically Perfect, Kid, and the comedy trio Stacey and Co. Musical collaborations with William Hannagan include the song cycle Until Tomorrow and musical HouseWarming. HouseWarming was presented at The New York Musical Theatre Festival at Theatre Row 42nd Street. Under the new name The Gathering the production had its professional Melbourne staging at forty five down stairs in 2016 in Melbourne.

Some of her previous performance credits include; Eleanor, Summer Heights High (ABC), Magnormos’ Anyone Can Whistle, Melbourne Recital Centre, HouseWarming, TheatreWorks, Until Tomorrow, KIN Collaborative, Prick, the Athenaeum Theatre,  Gilligan’s Island the Musical, Chapel off Chapel and most recently Olie in the new Australian play Chronic, at La Mama.

Edwina completed a Bachelor of Music degree and Master of Music degree from the University of Melbourne. She studied with Christopher Martin, Carl Pini, Spiros Rantos, Nathan Gutman and William Hennessy. Further qualifications include a Post Graduate diploma from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

As a freelance violinist Edwina has performed with orchestras in the U.K. and Portugal, and currently plays regularly with Orchestra Victoria. She is a member of Aequales ensemble and is often invited to be guest concertmaster for Gertrude Opera and the Stonnington Symphony. Edwina is passionate about music education and enjoys currently teaching at Westbourne Grammar School and Kensington Primary School.

Madison has performed around Australia and the world as a singer, dancer, actor and musician. Born and bred in Adelaide, Madison spent her childhood touring South Australia as a Violinist with the Primary Schools String Orchestra and Adelaide Youth Orchestra, with artists such as Daniel Sumegi, Eskimo Joe and Kamahl. She then made the transfer from the orchestra pit to the stage, graduating from the Queensland Conservatorium with a Bachelor of Music (Musical Theatre) in 2014. Since graduating, Madison has been in such professional musicals as Charlie And The Chocolate Factory (Crossroads Live) Georgy Girl – The Seekers Musical, Green Day’s American Idiot (shake&stir/QPAC), The Wedding Singer (David Venn Enterprises) Cats (RUG South Korean/Taiwan Tour 2017/2018) and The Light In The Piazza (Life Like Company) the latter earning her a 2017 Green Room Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical. A piano teacher for the past three years, Madison is passionate about sharing her love of music! 

Katiana started her music studies with an emphasis on violoncello at the age of 8 at the Alvin Schutmaat Music School, under the guidance of maestro William Caviedes (2003-2005).

Due to her skills and discipline on the instrument, she joined the EMAS Symphony Orchestra at the age of 9, becoming the youngest member of the string section.In 2014, Katiana joined part the “Orquesta Sinfónica Metropolitana” de Barranquilla as leader of the cello section and started to work as cello and violin teacher at Alvin Schutmaat Music School.

In 2016 she received her Undergraduate Degree as "Maestro en Música" from the
University Corporation. Between 2016 and 2017 Katiana participated in the music festivals "Clinicas Instrumentales" and Cartagena International Music Festival in the city of Cartagena, Colombia. In 2019 Katiana moved to Australia and started to work as a cello and violin tutor at the Performing Arts Academy (Minpaa). Katiana also works at numerous primary schools in the North and West of Melbourne

Lily is a working performing artist with an interest in singing, dancing and acting as well as being a musician. Born in Ballarat, Lily began learning both the piano and violin at the age of 5. She continued her studies throughout her schooling, having the opportunity to play violin in string ensembles and orchestras, as well as playing piano and percussion in her school band. Lily has a Bachelor of Performing Arts from Federation University Arts Academy where she received a commendation from the Dean for her academic performance and commitment to her studies. Lily is very familiar with the AMEB syllabus having successfully completed examinations in Classical Voice, Piano, Violin, Music Theatre and Theory disciplines. Musical Theatre is Lily’s passion, performing in many community theatre productions both in Ballarat and Melbourne. When not on the stage, Lily loves being able to share her passion for music with younger students and is enjoying teaching across multiple primary schools. 

Florence was a member of the Gondwana National Choirs from 2011-2016 and was selected to tour internationally with Gondwana Voices. She started singing lessons at the age of four and performed with the Townsville Choral Society in 2016 & 2017. Since 2014 she participated in the Townsville singing Eisteddfods (classical and novelty) and regularly placed every year. She completed her Grade 8 (classical) AMEB singing exam with a Distinction as well as Grade 6 Musical Theatre. Florence has taught private vocal lessons since 2016 and at The Voice Singing School. Florence is also one of the most highly sought gig musicians in Australia, performing as a member of Vixen Strings, Dan Fontaine Orchestra, George Ellis Orchestra and the Australian String Quartet, amongst others, at various corporate and high-end functions.

Described as ‘possessing an expressively warm sound and spontaneous musical imagination,’
Florence is the 2018 recipient of the Paula and Tony Kinnane Music Scholarship from the University of Queensland. Florence was awarded the Youth Development prize and first place in the Young Performer Soloist section of the Australian Concerto and Vocal competition in 2014. She has performed on national and international stages including tours to China, as a part of the UQ Symphony orchestra collaboration with X'ian Symphony Orchestra. She has toured Australia as a member of the National Gondwana Choirs for the past six years, performing with the Cat Empire, as well as performing with the Queensland Youth Orchestra.
Originally from Townsville, Florence was awarded the Theodore Kuchar Scholarship from the
Australian Festival of Chamber Music and the Townsville City Council in 2016.
She has also featured on numerous artists albums such as The Cat Empire and DZ DEATHRAYS. Florence has also recorded for Australian Idol and The Masked Singer. Florence Cappler-Shillington is currently undertaking her final year of the Bachelor of Music (Honours) at The University of Queensland, studying under Associate Professor Adam Chalabi.
